Fire sprinkler started

The electricians are still finishing up the rough wiring.  Then they will still have low voltage and the vacuum to install.  Need to dig a trench Monday to connect power and gas (two trenches). Will also run power and CAT 5 to future gate at that time.  Had to meet with Xcel and get an easement (survey had to right up legal desc) to cross neighbors driveway with our power.

Framers have been done for a week now.  Plumbers have been mainly done for about a week, but the framers had to fur out the master bath shower so we could put a shower head on the north wall (can’t be in the exterior wall). Framers also put in the other new window in the loft (which was a great idea from Kaly), and the skylight.  HVAC has also been done for a week, but they did have to come back to change the duct for the range from 8” to 10” to meet the specs for the 1200 CFM Ventahood.  I also had Pathbroadband ran CAT 5 to the roof for wireless broadband service.

Monday we will go to Colo Springs to meet with the custom cabinet shop (www.HellersInteriors.com) to review the kitchen plans and get the order started. It will take 12 weeks so we’re a bit behind here.  I’m also working on the front door; again it’s custom and will take 6-10 weeks so we need to get it going.  Talking to several local custom shops and a couple of custom shops I found on the Internet.

I finished reviewing all the plumbing fixtures. I ended up making a list in Word with all the model numbers, locations and a picture of each.  I’m not sure if we have room under the sink for the disposal, water chiller and filter. Although I think the sink only has one drain so we may be okay.

Painters are painting the fascia and roofer plan to start next week on the roof.  It also looks like the fire sprinkler company started today.

Waiting on electrical

It was a shock this week to see only one vehicle in the driveway. The electricians are continuing work, but the framers are all done (a few minor things to fix, install a window, skylight, etc.). Rough gas and HVAC is done. One issue was that the hood for the stove is 1200 CFMs so it needs a 10 inch duct not an 8 inch so that has to be changed. Luckily I caught this yesterday after a ton of research. The whole integration of the kitchen as it relates to gas, electrical, venting and framing is very complex. I honestly don't know who would catch all these details if it wasn't me. I had top move the door to the dining room to allow for the bake center, move the pantry door in to allow for the swing of the refrigerator door, etc... There is just a million details in the kitchen that have to work together so until you actually layout the kitchen by marking on the floor it's tough to see the problems. For example, the original kitchen plan had a column extending up-- into the vaulted space of the great room, which obviously doesn't work.

We're also working on the electric line-- I need to get an easement from the neighbor to cross his driveway.

Another issue is that the front steps (a very large concrete structure with two sets of steps) wasn't shown on the structural plans and thus nothing has been planend or incorporated for it.
