Whoops- they dropped off all the rebar along my neighbor’s driveway. We need to get things moved out of the way before my neighbor gets too frustrated. The big pile of dirt is blocking my driveway so it will be at least a week or two. It's a Saturday so no work going on today.

Gabe's (the foundation company) crew is out measuring the hole and marking for piers. They will drill piers on Monday. I got my web cam- Dlink 5300G. Setup was easy. Now I need to build an enclosure and put it up at the job site.

They finished digging the foundation. The hole is huge. The pile of dirt is enormous—it would be tough to find room for it on a smaller lot. The kids enjoyed playing in the hole. Doug said the dirt was really bad (expansive). I said that I do not want to cut corners and if we need to spend more money to backfill with better dirt, let's do it. The engineer from soils engineering firm (Scott Cox and Assoc) will be out Monday to inspect the holes and dirt and can advise us then. Luckily, the neighbor wants extra dirt for a berm to that will help with the hauling costs; I’m just waiting on him to get county approval for it which is required for any grading (under 500 yards in a 2 weeks site plan waiver review).

A little late start, but by the afternoon there was a literal mountain of dirt. They dug with a loader (vs. an excavator) since they need a ramp anyway for the caisson drilling rig to get in and it is easier to move the dirt around and pile it up.
After a week of no action Harold (or his employee) will be back to dig the foundation hole in the morning. This should be exciting.

I was working last night and today on a temporary drip hose setup to water the trees. My old valve box and water connection were a victim of the Track-Hoe. I bought several hundred feet of garden hose and some timers to run the drips. I was also working on a project plan in Microsoft Project so I can track the progress. I need to review with Doug in the morning. For a builder this is all very routine and they take it as it comes, but I want to see all the dates and tasks laid out. Then I can know if we are ahead or behind schedule. (Doug later put together a schedule, so the project plan is bit overkill, but it’s still nice to see all the dependencies.)
