Waiting on electrical
It was a shock this week to see only one vehicle in the driveway. The electricians are continuing work, but the framers are all done (a few minor things to fix, install a window, skylight, etc.). Rough gas and HVAC is done. One issue was that the hood for the stove is 1200 CFMs so it needs a 10 inch duct not an 8 inch so that has to be changed. Luckily I caught this yesterday after a ton of research. The whole integration of the kitchen as it relates to gas, electrical, venting and framing is very complex. I honestly don't know who would catch all these details if it wasn't me. I had top move the door to the dining room to allow for the bake center, move the pantry door in to allow for the swing of the refrigerator door, etc... There is just a million details in the kitchen that have to work together so until you actually layout the kitchen by marking on the floor it's tough to see the problems. For example, the original kitchen plan had a column extending up-- into the vaulted space of the great room, which obviously doesn't work.
We're also working on the electric line-- I need to get an easement from the neighbor to cross his driveway.
Another issue is that the front steps (a very large concrete structure with two sets of steps) wasn't shown on the structural plans and thus nothing has been planend or incorporated for it.
