Swoop done, plumbing and HVAC in progress
A lot has been going on over the past week. The framers hit another snag with the swoop. Even after raising the office rood by 1 foot, there were concerns about the structural support. I really appreciate the framers; a less honest framer might have been in a hurry and just moved on. It took a few days, but finally Doug, Lonnie & Izzy (framers) and Elayne (the structural engineer) met and the engineer explained her vision. The framers weren’t too happy with all the extra work it caused, but it look like they wrapped it up today and I’m just glad to know that the engineer has reviewed and approved it all.
Meanwhile the plumbers started this week and have just about everything roughed in. And the HVAC guys have a lot of the duct work all done. It’s a bummer to see the basement with its nice unobstructed 9 ½’ ceilings get all that duct work; but of course we need heat and a/c on the main floor. It’s nice that we have a second furnace and AC unit in the basement which eliminates all the extra duct work and should be more efficient.
Monday we meet with the electrician which will be a big walk through to plan all outlets, lights, etc. We’re moving a few things around from the original plan. We’ve been busy buying light fixture. There is something like 50 light fixtures and another 66 recessed lights in the house.
The windows all went in the last week or so and look great.
We also need to: pick a drywall texture, confirm the roof shingle, get the claw foot tub ordered, confirm the garage door, order cabinets, get the fireplace and much more all in the next week. We’re also out shopping for tile and have been deciding on countertops. Kaly thinks she has decided on soapstone.
The house is looking great (we think) and we’re excited to see the progress. At this stage a lot is happening and it’s important to stay on top of the details each
