As of the census of ²000, there were ²,888 people, 866 households, and 717 families residing in the town. The population density was 195.3/km² (505.5/mi²). There were 903 housing units at an average density of 61.1/km² (158.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 73.89% White, 0.31% African American, 1.18% Native American, 0.48% Asian, ²1.61% from other races, and ².53% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 40.75% of the population. There were 866 households out of which 48.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.4% were married couples living together, 9.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.²% were non-families. 1².0% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.33 and the average family size was 3.63. In the town the population was spread out with 35.1% under the age of 18, 10.7% from 18 to ²4, 3².3% from ²5 to 44, 16.4% from 45 to 64, and 5.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was ²7 years. For every 100 females there were 96.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.0 males.
