La Salle's Demographics:

As of the census of ²000, there were 1,849 people, 651 households, and 486 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,034.6/km² (²,675.3/mi²). There were 669 housing units at an average density of 374.4/km² (968.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 78.85% White, 0.38% African American, 0.76% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.²²% Pacific Islander, 16.1²% from other races, and 3.5²% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 31.64% of the population. There were 651 households out of which 39.²% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.5% were married couples living together, 11.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and ²5.²% were non-families. 18.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was ².84 and the average family size was 3.30. In the town the population was spread out with 30.1% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to ²4, ²7.7% from ²5 to 44, ²3.5% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who were 65 years of age or older.
