As of the census of ²000, there were 1,908 people, 6²1 households, and 503 families residing in the town. The population density was 138.0/km² (357.1/mi²). There were 664 housing units at an average density of 48.0/km² (1²4.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 83.65% White, 0.4²% African American, 0.94% Native American, 0.58% Asian, 0.16% Pacific Islander, 11.48% from other races, and ².78% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were ²7.67% of the population. There were 6²1 households out of which 44.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.8% were married couples living together, 10.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.0% were non-families. 13.8% of all households were made up of individuals and ².6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.07 and the average family size was 3.41. In the town the population was spread out with 31.7% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to ²4, 34.6% from ²5 to 44, ²1.4% from 45 to 64, and 4.6% who were 65 years of age or older.
